Start the party on Friday but continue through the weekend. That is the beauty of Sangria. The longer the ingredients meld together the better it tastes. Sangria is a great summer time drink that goes with so many grilled foods and will please even your friends that “aren’t into wine”. Mix up a big batch and savory it Friday evening and when you invite your friends over on Saturday the cocktails will be chilled and ready to pour. One thing off your list!
Sangria
Ingredients:
4 bottles Tempranillo or Cabernet Sauvignon
1/2 bottle of Brandy
20 oz. freshly squeezed Orange Juice
1/2 bottle Pomegranate Juice
2 oranges, sliced into rings and cut in half
2 limes, sliced into rings
1 apple, sliced
1 basket blackberries or strawberries
1 bottle ginger ale
Directions:
Mix together the wine, brandy and juices until well mixed.
Add in the orange ring halves, lime rings, apples slices and blackberries. Refrigerate at least 8 hours to overnight. Very important to let the flavors meld for the most well rounded flavors.
You may need to make this in batches depending on the size of your container and the amount you are making. A large acrylic beverage jar with a pour spigot is great for this.
Serve the Sangria from a large pitcher or directly from the beverage jar into glasses filled with ice. Garnish with fresh fruit rings.
