Mexican (Aphrodisiac) Cosmo - Friday's 5 o'clock Wet Your Whistle Call

Tequila lovers we are! Now we are not purists so we do appreciate a mellow sipping tequila from time to time. A few years back we were in Puerto Vallarta for our anniversary and our friends Alex and Debbie introduced us to Agavero on our last night in town. We loved it so much that the next morning we began our mad hunt to find some before we had to catch our flight back home. The problem was, it was Sunday morning and all the shop owners were in church! Sadly we made our way to the airport vowing to find it when we got home. Sadness turned to giddy excitement for me (husbands don’t get giddy) when I spotted it at the airport. Well, as you can imagine, we picked up several bottles just to be safe! We enjoy sipping Agavero but it is also wonderful in this twist on a Cosmopolitan.

Agavero comes in a beautiful bottle with spiky agave leaves that wind up the bottle. The label says “El Original Licor de Tequila” and is 100 percent blue agave tequila infused with the natural essence of the Damiana flower.

Mexican Cosmopolitan
1 oz. Agavero
2 oz. vodka
Splash of cranberry juice
Splash of lime juice

Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Pour into a chilled martini glass and garnish with an orange slice.

Warning: The Damiana flower, indigenous to the mountains of Jalisco, is reputed to be an aphrodisiac in Mexico. You’ll have to find that part out for yourself but you’ll surely have fun trying!
